Allison Iraheta was born April, 27, 1992. She is El Salvadorian-American. Her
family moved to America from El Salvador before she was born. At the time of the
auditions for American Idol in 2008 Allison lived in Los Angeles, California.
According to the American Idol site, Allison first started to sing when she was
five years old. She wanted to audition for American Idol since she was nine years
old.
When Allison was 14 she competed in a
Telemundo (a Spanish-language American
television Network) singing competition called Quinceanera. Quinceanera combines
reality and game show genres like American Idol, making it a talent competition
between 10 girls, ages 14 and 15, who will compete to realize their dream of
becoming a star. She won the competition, $50,000 and a recording contract. Allison
claimed the $50,000 but did not sign the recording contract because she wanted to
audition for American Idol when she turned 16.
In 2008 Allison auditioned in San Francisco California for the singing-reality
competition American Idol hosted on
FOX . She became on of the youngest singers
to make it into the top ten. Allison was voted off the show May 6, 2009 finishing in the
4th position.
According to the American Idol site Allison has had formal singing training. She
says she wants to follow her dream of becoming a singer. When asked if she
couldn't sing what would she do she responded - -play the guitar. Her musical
influences are Pink, Beck, Katy Perry, Mariah Carey and Heart. She says if she
could redo any moment in her life she wouldn't want to change a thing.
Allison is currently under contract to 19 Entertainment until the end of the 2009
American Idol tour.
She will be
